Diabetics Avoid These Foods

Most of the time diabetics are being advised on what to eat for maintaining normal blood sugar levels. Here’s a look at some of the foods they need to avoid for optimal health.

Sugar free drinks:

Even though a can of “zero” soda may give you minimal calories and fair amount of carbs, but its caffeine content that may take a toll on your whole day’s healthy diet.

Fatty foods:

Eating a fatty meal can slow down digestion and make it harder for your insulin to work, causing possible high blood glucose level hours after your meal. Some fats can raise blood cholesterol, increasing your risk for heart attack or stroke.

Fruit juices:

Fruit juice contains no fiber and during processing loses most its valuable nutrients like Vitamin B and Vitamin C. A large part of the sugar found in fruit juice is fructose. An intake of higher amounts of fructose can cause insulin resistance. Instead of juice, eat whole fruit as it’s the best way to get all the fiber, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals in one go.
