There are several theories as to why people develop this condition aside from it being a side effect of certain medications or illnesses.  It could be one of the following, or a combination of them all. Some theories include: improper diets, too much stress, or a toxic environment.

Improper Diets

Prioritize this: Diet is the key your body needs to operate efficiently. Your brain consumes 20 percent of the body’s energy, and that energy is coming directly from your food source. Whether you suffer from brain fog or not, you should always shop organic to get the most nutrients out of your foods as possible, and avoid sugar, sodas, sweets, white bread, pasta, and white rice.

These processed foods become metabolized very quickly by the body and cause blood sugar levels to rise and drop at unnaturally dangerous rates. They will leave you tired, foggy minded, and can cause you to gain weight.

Too Much Stress

Society has driven our culture to the brink of insanity with too much, too fast, and too often. The first sign being stress out could indeed be brain fog. It is your body’s way of telling you to slow down! Recommended ways to de-stress include:

  • Say no and take on less responsibility and learn to delegate.
  • Exercise at least 20 minutes, three times a week.
  • Get enough sleep.
  • Organize yourself, your house, your schedule.
  • Incorporate some deep breathing, yoga or meditation and relaxation techniques

A Toxic Environment

The brain is super sensitive to toxins. In the world we live in today, they are all around. From the processed and artificial foods we eat, to the pesticides, insecticides, and flame resistant clothing and furniture. They are everywhere we go.

The toxins we encounter destroy our mitochondria. This is the part of the cell that produces our main energy source and gives us our cognition and our thoughts; thus, leaving us in a state of “brain fog”. It is important to give nourish our body with toxin fighting tools such as:
