The Philosophy

Acupuncture is part of the traditional medicine of China and has been in practice for around 3000 years. Treatment is based on the principle that our health is dependent on our body’s motivating energy, known as Qi. This energy keeps us functioning physically, emotionally and spiritually. Qi flows throughout the body in channels known as meridians. People can become ill when they either have too little qi, a blockage in the qi flow or an imbalance. Recent research has also shown that stimulating certain points by acupuncture can influence the release of hormones and neurotransmitters and this is a very important fact for the treatment of hormonal imbalances, fertility and depression.
