Fuss Free Holiday Styles
Georgie Langhans, Salon Manager and Stylist at Pastels Salon points out that taking inspiration from the catwalk shows, the main trends are ballerina buns, minimal effort hair, sweeping fringes, braids and ponytails. She adds that a style that features large soft waves is a good go-to as it’s quick and easy to do but looks great. “Using a curling wand, take large sections of your hair and curl it away from the face,” she says. “Do three to four sections on each side of the head to create large loose waves through the hair.” This creates a nice flow and wave to the hair that can be dressed up or worn casually. Holiday hair, she adds, usually involves free-flowing textured hair. This, she explains, can be achieved by using a curling wand and curling large sections of hair for a soft flowing style.
Further elaborating, Ruksher Malik, co-founder Rapid General Trading explains that other easy hairstyles can be created by using Hairdo clip in extensions – a highend
hair extensions range created by Ken Paves, who is stylist to Eva Longoria and Victoria Beckham to name but a few. “The Heat-friendly Styleables range can be curled
or straightened as desired; while the True2Life range also features a number of ready-made looks, including clip-in bangs, a wraparound ponytail and chignon – making chic styles easily accessible even on those with shorter hair,” she says.
Must Have Hair Tools
According to Malik, a tangle teezer is an absolute must for any hair type. “It can be used wet or dry to comb out knots and tangles in the hair with little to no breakage or hair fall,” she says, and it is also a great styling tool to use in upstyling and also for backcombing. It is a versatile tool that can be used for several styling needs.
It is vital to have a high-quality brush such as D:Fuse, which are the ultimate hair styling tools, advises Malik. “By incorporating unique Tourmaline Ceramic Technology, D:fuse brushes boast a host of advantages over rival styling brushes, such as forcing moisture into the hair, changing the structure of colour treatments
to make them longer lasting, locking in essential oils and fatty acids that slowly leak from damaged hair as well as increasing blood circulation to the scalp to promote healthier hair. “This also retains heat better than ordinary brushes to allow better styling,” she explains. A professional-grade hairdryer and hair iron are also key must-haves.
Cuts and Styles
Classic styles such as bobs and pixie cuts are back, tells Langhans. “The latest incarnation of the bob features both sweeping and sharp fringes,” she says and this style can be worn choppy, textured, messy/undone or sharp and can be a short or long style – whatever way you choose to wear it will work with the trend. “Undercuts are also big news; while a romantic emulation braids and buns with a seductive free tousled wavy texture and loose curls is a key look,” she says.
