Dance Your Way to Good Health

danceA trailblazer in her own right, nashwa hamad is the first emirati to open up her very own dance studio in dubai the adagio dance & fitness studio. She explains why dance can help you refocus while you have fun getting in shape.

Inspiration

“When I started working full-time, I completely stopped exercising and found myself feeling more lethargic and gaining weight. I knew I had to do something about it, but didn’t want to sign up to a gym as I find them boring and unmotivating. One day I was with a friend and we started talking about different ways of getting fit, we eventually decided to sign up for an Aerial Hoop class we found. I was nervous going in as I didn’t know what to expect, but straight away I fell in love with the class.” “As time went on, I met so many amazing people and with each passing class, I could feel my strength building. This is when I realized this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and this is when Adagio was conceptualized.”

Paving the way for other Emiratis

“I really think you just need to go out, find a passion and follow it. So many entrepreneurs who are very successful will always say ‘do a job you love and the success and money will come’. If Adagio’s story inspires someone to follow their dreams and create their own business, this would make me very happy and proud.”

On Offer

“As for the classes, we offer every type of dance from the Aerial Arts which include Hoop, Pole and Silks to  bollywood, Bellydance, Hip-Hop, Afro Beats, Zumba, Tabata, and Salsa, to name a few. Our goal is to bring different types of dance from all around the world for people to try and enjoy.”

Advice

“Firstly, I would say do your research, if you are really passionate, learn everything you can about what you’re about to do. Consult friends, colleagues or even professionals, don’t be shy to ask questions as there are so many things you can’t prepare for so the things you can, you must be smart about. Also, it’s really Easy to get stuck in a cycle of working long hours, so it’s very important to take a step back and acknowledge what you have achieved. Finally, when things Go wrong, don’t let them get you down; if mistakes didn’t happen you would never be able to learn from them!”
