As we come to the end of the aca-
demic year at GMU, it will soon be time
for our academic and administrative
teams to move on with new plans. We
hope that even more exciting and re-
warding programs will take shape in
the coming months.
Our expansion plans, with the addi-
tion of Thumbay Hospital in Dubai
and Thumbay Clinics in Ajman, Dubai,
Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm al
Quwain, will enable us to re-commit
ourselves to offer affordable quality
healthcare to all.
His Excellency T.P. Seetharam, Ambas-
sador of India to UAE, formally inaugu-
rated the Thumbay Hospital in Dubai.
He was taken on a tour of the hospital.
Ambassador H.E. Seetharam praised
the yeoman services being rendered
by Thumbay Group in healthcare and
education in the country.
We were greatly honored by the visit
of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Ma-
barak Al Nahayan, Minister for Youth,
Culture and Social Development, Gov-
ernment of UAE to Thumbay Hospital.
He was impressed with the facilities
and appreciated the advanced tech-
nology that is in place to offer afford-
able healthcare to all.
I am pleased to inform our readers that
Mr. Akbar Moideen Thumbay, Director
Healthcare Division Thumbay Group
won the ‘Champion of Change Award’
and Thumbay Group HR department
has won the prestigious Best Talent
Management Practice Award during
the MENA HR Excellence Awards held
in Dubai as part of the 10th Annual Hu-
man Assets Expansion Summit MENA.
We had the privilege to host Mr. Jamal
Bin Ghalaita, Chief Executive Officer
and high ranking officials from Emir-
ates Islamic Bank recently. We dis-
cussed various upcoming projects and
ventures of the Thumbay Group.
We were also pleased to host Aboo-
backer A.P. Kanthapuram Musaliyar, a
leading luminary, Islamic scholar and
an educationist. He was very pleased
to witness the various facilities avail-
able at the University.
Our newly opened Thumbay Hospi-
tal had organized Mom’s Day Out, a
unique event that helped hundreds
of young expecting mothers regard-
ing various issues related to pregnancy
and parenting. The hospital has also
held many free health camps helping
thousands of people from various na-
tionalities, who represented their na-

ized by the Medical Tourism Depart-
ment at Thumbay Hospital. Over 250
people from Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan,
Cameroon, Egypt, Uganda, Kenya, and
Ghana took advantage of the camp.
His Excellency B.T Shonubi, Consul,
Consulate General of Nigeria was the
chief guest on the occasion. The an-
nual Free Mega Health Camp was held
at all of our group hospitals in Ajman,
Dubai, Sharjah and Fujairah. Over 9000
people benefited from the camp.
The College of Allied Health Sciences,
GMU in association with the Health
Communications Division organized
the 11th Annual Conference on Cur-
rent Concepts in Rehabilitation Prac-
tice followed by a workshop on Kinetic
Control concepts, which was held for
the first time in the region.
The Center for Advanced Biomedical
Research and Innovation, GMU organ-
ized the 3rd Annual Seminar on Qual-
ity Control in Clinical Laboratories.
GMU Promotions department has or-
ganized the GMU Annual Medical and
Science Exhibition, which witnessed
over 4500 students participating in the
Ramadan Kareem and Eid Mubarak to
all our readers. I wish you all a happy
