Ajman: GMC Hospital in
association with Ministry of Health
and Sharjah Blood Bank conducted
a Blood Donation Camp at the
GMC Hospital premises on the
15th of August, 2013.
The event was open to public
and staff of GMC Hospital from
09.00 AM to 02.00 PM. The main
objective of conducting the blood
donation camp was to educate the
Ramada Downtown holds charity drive to
benefit Beit Al Khair Society
In collaboration with Green Hopes to observe the spirit of Ramadan
Dubai, UAE (July 21, 2013) – In
observance of the Holy month of
Ramadan, the management and
staff of Ramada Downtown, in
collaboration with Green Hopes,
hand over donated items to Beit Al
Khair Society, one of the leading
charity organisations in Dubai.
Several boxes of unwanted clothes,
bed linens, towels, bed sheets and
other useful items were given to the
organisation to distribute to the less
fortunate such as the underprivileged
families and orphans who are seeking
aid from the organisation.
Wael El Behi, General Manager,
Ramada Downtown Dubai, said:
“Ramadan is a special time of the
year when we need to focus on
community and charity works
in addition to fasting and prayer.
At Ramada Downtown, we aim
to actively contribute to the
community that has been very
supportive of us, both to our
business and to our families so in
the spirit of Ramadan we are getting
everyone involved by donating
items that will be useful to those in
need!”
Gulf Medical University becomes the
first university in the region to set up an
advanced testing center
The State-of-the-Art Testing Center becomes operational at Gulf
Medical University (GMU) which is one of the biggest in the region
and is equipped with advanced technology to conduct examinations.
The Center can also be utilized as an educational testing service
provider by other institutions and organizations in U.A.E.

A State-of-the-Art Testing Center is
the latest addition to the ever-growing
facilities at Gulf Medical University
(GMU). This new unit is capable
of accommodating placement tests,
examinations or any other form of
testing through an online sophisticated
technical set-up. The Center
also provides testing in a secured
environment for students and creates
optimum environment for examinees
to perform at their personal best.
“Gulf Medical University is the
first university in the Middle East
to introduce an Examination
Management Software System
called ExamSoft under licence from
ExamSoft Worldwide Inc. (USA). The
software offers an exam management
solution which delivers powerful
actionable data to assess achievement
of student learning outcomes and
improve student learning through
engagement and remediation. The use
of examination management software
system and implementation of online
examination can enhance the quality of
services and maintain high standards”,
says Prof. R. Chandramouli, Dean –
Assessment & Evaluation, GMU.
The application of ExamSoft in
assessments in the GMU programs
has paved the way to administer the
International Foundations of Medicine
(IFOM) I and II examinations offered
by the National Board of Medical
Examiners (NBME), USA for the
medical students in the MBBS
program, which can benchmark
student performance using
international standards. GMU has
signed an agreement with NBME to
administer the exam for the MBBS
students from the academic year
2013.
Prof. Gita Ashok Raj, Provost,
GMU added that “The employment
of an external professional body
with an outstanding track record
for blue printing and conducting
examinations in the field of medicine
will reassure our stakeholders
of the validity and fairness of
assessment and evaluation of student
performance that matches both
national and global requirements of
medical education”.

GMU Testing Center can also serve
as an educational testing service
provider for other institutions
and organizations in U.A.E and is
available for third party bookings to
conduct tests or examinations.

blood transfusion

blood voluntarily for a noble cause.
GMC Hospital authorities conduct
blood donation camps throughout
the year on a regular basis, in order
to aid government blood banks and
other regulatory bodies in relation to
voluntary blood donation.
A total of 50 donors voluntarily
donated their blood for the generous
cause.
