Ministry of Health and Prevention successfully holds community and charity based initiatives across all its hospitals and medical zones

Move is in line with Ministry’s celebration of the Holy Month of Ramadan

UAE, June 18, 2017 – The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has successfully hosted and organized a series of community and charity based initiatives for both the Holy Month of Ramadan and the commemoration of Zayed Humanitarian Day–complementing the Ministry’s aims of further promoting its core values, which includes social responsibility, enhancing feelings of solidarity and social cohesion, developing the spirit of volunteerism and charity work and introducing joy and pleasure to the hearts of the oppressed. The initiatives were held with the participation of the Ministry’s top officials and employees in cooperation with leading charitable organizations and companies from the private sector.

As part of the initiatives, the Ministry distributed gifts to expectant mothers, falling in line with Zayed Humanitarian Day, at key venues like Al Qasimi Hospital, Kalba, Khorfakkan, Al Dhaid, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah, Al Baraha and Saqr–commemorating the memory of the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed and the embodiment of the spirit of giving.

In addition, the Ministry also distributed Ramadan baskets to needy families in partnership wth the Dubai Charity Association. MOHAP also spearheaded the ‘Abayate’ project, which encouraged its employees to donate Abayas for needy families. Held in cooperation with Dar Al Ber Society, a total of 982 Abayas were donated along with 1,000 copies of the Quran and a special Ramadan bag filled with items coming from the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities and Johnson & Johnson.   

Special initiatives for medical zones and hospitals under MOHAP
The Ministry also conducted special visits to patients across the medical zones and hospitals under MOHAP–providing gifts, sponsoring a special breakfast for employees, distributing Ramadan bags, clothes & monetary donations and providing free blood pressure and diabetes screenings. The Ministry also organized awareness lectures and distributed free pamphlets for visitors and employees that tackled the benefits of fasting and how to maintain a healthy body during the Holy Month.
