Love Mexican Food? Don’t Miss Taco Tuesdays at La Tablita

Tuesdays take on new meaning now with the Taco Tuesdays night at La Tablita in The Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights. Here you can feast to your heart’s content on assorted, authentic Mexican soft corn tortilla shell tacos. This is served with unlimited freshly made tortilla chips and three different kinds of salsa to suit your personal preference for spiciness.

La Tablita is the home of authentic Mexican food in Dubai—the ambiance is contemporary— where modern art meets Mexico. Here low lighting, wooden tables, and the huge murals and graffiti on the walls merge with the background Mexican music and sombrero hats lean into a warm and friendly vibe.

We met Daniel Gonzalez Toledo, Restaurant Manager, who explained the concept; there are eight different kinds of tacos that are served and can be reordered on an all-you-can-eat basis and include beef, chicken, camel, and vegetarian options. We indulged in the Campachamos—the beef flank and spicy beef chorizo tacos and then the Costilla—one of my personal favorites; made with a mix of shredded beef and guajillo chili stew.

Then there are lamb tacos served—Barbacon—a slow-cooked shredded lamb which was a unique flavor for tacos altogether. The chicken tacos included Alambre de Pollo—a mildly spiced chicken with cheese and bell peppers and then the Alambre de Champignon—made with a mixture of mushrooms with cheese and bell peppers. The Rajas Poblamas was a creamy stew with roasted poblano chili and baby corn—encased in the shell. But I must say the one I reordered multiple times was the Nopales con Queso—a well-known edible cactus used extensively in Mexican cooking and in this case, combined with halloumi cheese and a spicy accompanying sauce. It was a really different take on tacos and yet the cactus was very mild in flavor with a tender texture. And lastly, the Camello which is for die-hard camel meat lovers—camel meat and sun-dried black pepper stew encased in the soft corn shell.

And while Taco Tuesdays do not include desserts and despite our groaning stomachs, we were treated to the best Tres Leches cake in the world hands down, and their famous freshly made churros.

The Verdict: If you love authentic Mexican food, you will love Taco Tuesdays at La Tablita. Here every taco is packed with authentic flavors and the servers are friendly; don’t miss a fun and enjoyable evening.
