Street Food, Bites, and Much More at Rajdhani Street

Located in JLT, Rajdhani Street is a family style, modern Indian street food bistro that offers al fresco dining. With graphic prints on the walls and a semi open kitchen, the menu offers is a fun amalgamation of Indian street food with a twist. It’s divided into Quick Bites, from which we tucked into khakra nachos, a new addition to the menu—a truly desi styled nachos plate with a similar look and feel of the Mexican counterpart. It had warm beans, crispy khakra, cheese, and cilantro. The chow patty bhel, another new one on the menu, was a fusion dish which had the integrity of traditional bhel, but with a whole different taste. The Pune camp sliders were a delectable medley of a potato cutlet nestled under melted cheese and served with masala fries and mint chutney for dipping. Another really cool dish was the pizza dhokla; inspired by the Gujarati street snack which uses a spongy cake; but here the base was topped with tomato sauce, cheese, and chutney making it the perfect fusion dish. The Sepla paneer 65 tacos were encased in Indian flatbread (roti) and were a twist on traditional tacos with the spicy paneer, nestled amidst grilled, spicy vegetables, cheese, and mayo.

In between we quenched our thirst with assorted mocktails which were mostly done in molecular gastronomy style. I tried the Masala Thumbs Up with came in a horn shaped glass while the mango lassi and the hara pudina shikaji was refreshing and tangy, just what I needed after so much food.

For our mains, we ordered two items—Dal Bukhara which is always a hit with us, with  creamy slow cooked black lentils, enveloped in butter; and then the Bombay jaan palao filled with spicy vegetables, and fragrant; with the twist of cheese and served with gravy and Indian raita yogurt.

Being cold outside (for a change in Dubai!) we happily tucked into the freshly fried, hot jalebis served with a rich milk reduction and the hot gulab jamins served with ice cream. Both fo these desserts were super satisfying, fresh, and satisfied my sweet tooth to the core.

The Verdict: Rajdhani Street, which has another branch specializing in thalis in Karama, serves up really innovative yummy street food with a excellent service. The food is fresh and the ambiance is relaxed and family friendly.
