HOW IT WORKS?
AFT takes formerly unused short-wavelength light and converts it into part of the usable spectrum through a special filtering system. It increases emission and penetration, for safer and more effective treatments. By delivering every pulse at a uniform energy (fluence) across the entire face it ensures repeatable results and remarkable safety. AFT yields a more efficient system for ideal clinical improvements, less discomfort and minimal skin damage.
TREATMENT PROCEDURE
Each treatment takes 60 – 70 minutes and begins with the Nimue Skin Rejuvenation Facial which includes cleansing, exfoliation, gentle steam, massage and mask application.
Once the skin is prepared the cooled tip of the hand piece is placed on the skin to deliver a warm flash of bright light energy to about one square inch of skin. The device “Photo Rejuvenates” skin by shining a series of intense bursts of light on it for a split second and delivering one flash every two to four seconds. This bright light is scientifically tailored to cause the destruction of unhealthy skin infiltrates, like certain bacteria and microorganisms and damaged cells that signal sun damage (brown spots). At the same time, the Intense Pulsed Light heats the dermis to above 65 degrees Celsius, which activates the skin to produce wrinkle-filling collagen over the course of 5-12 weeks.
Most patients find AFT to be a very comfortable procedure and describe the sensation as a rubber band snap to the skin. For patients who are more sensitive, discomfort can be further controlled by applying a topical anaesthetic or cooling gel.
WHAT RESULT TO EXPECT?
After each session, you should experience improvement of skin tone, texture and/or color. AFT treatment is an excellent way to maintain the skin on the face, neck, décolleté and hands. Using pulses of light, collagen production is stimulated and pigmentation absorbed leading to a more balanced and healthy skin. HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I REQUIRE?
Ideally, you will have one treatment every 3 weeks as a course of 5 sessions. After that, maintenance treatment every 2 – 3 months is recommended.
