Share your stories and learn new ways to cope in a community that supports
February 17, 2018; Dubai, UAE: Problems with fertility are very common and many couples in the UAE are struggling to build their family. Yet despite this shared experience, women and couples often struggle in silence because it simply doesn’t get talked about.
Priyanka Bhatia-Mahendru (M.A, A.C.C.), Fertility Journey Coach & Counselor at Bourn Hall Dubai, invites women coping with infertility to attend a free monthly meet-up to share their stories, be heard, listen to other women’s experiences, learn new coping skills, and find meaning by helping others.
The meet up is not limited to patients from Bourn Hall, and is open to all women trying to have a baby.
“In a world where talking about your fertility issues is really hard, women keep these challenges to themselves”, says Priyanka, and adds “The group is created so ‘No woman has to do this alone’. They find a voice, strength and a safe space to build resources together. Women learn to cope with anxiety and stress leading to a sense of confidence within”.
A 32 year old woman, going through her 2nd IVF cycle, who attended the first group meet-up said, “The support group gave me a sense of relief that I’m not alone in this struggle, because so many people go through difficulties in conceiving but are reluctant to speak about it. It was motivating to meet so many strong women who are experiencing the same thing as I am, and helpful to know that we can help each other by providing support and sharing our experiences with one another”.
This confidence, support, and strength that they build will help women understand and cope with their own unique journey to have a child.
