• Family fun for everyone to celebrate ‘Child-Friendly City’ accolade on 19 November
• Procession begins at 3 pm from Al Noor Mosque on Al Buhaira Corniche Rd
• Fireworks extravaganza to light up Sharjah skies after sundown
On the occasion of Universal Children’s Day, the First Sharjah Child and Youth Friendly Carnival will be held on Monday, November 19, for children, families, and the whole community to enjoy and celebrate Sharjah’s global ‘Child-Friendly City’ title.
A festive 1-km procession will bring the streets of Sharjah alive with a series of entertaining shows, performances, and live music, including a magical garden, flying inflatable characters, a giant bubble party, and many more, in addition to a host of activities that will be organized by Sharjah government entities and organisations.
The carnival will begin its journey on Al Buhaira Road opposite Al Noor Mosque at 3:00 pm, and continue until Al Majaz Waterfront, where a special fireworks demonstration awaits visitors after sundown.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and organised by the Sharjah Baby Friendly Office (SBFO), the carnival celebrates the exceptional qualities and achievements of the city’s children and youth by bringing the whole community together to connect and celebrate.
Dr Hessa Al Ghazal, Executive Director of SBFO, said: “On the occasion of Universal Children’s Day, we very much look forward to welcoming all members of the public to the First Sharjah Child and Youth Friendly Carnival. We are also still welcoming participations from government entities for the procession. This is a great opportunity for the community to unite, celebrate our children and youth, and recognize Sharjah’s achievements to create a nurturing environment for them.”
Turning childhood dreams into reality, the programme comprises three main parts: ‘The Flying Dreams’, ‘Make it Bubble’ and ‘The Magic Garden’. Crowds will marvel at the sky as ‘The Flying Dreams’ sees a variety of inflatable characters take to the sky, while ‘Make it Bubble’ will see colourful bubble-dressed performers turning the city into a giant bubble-filled party. Finally, ‘The Magic Garden’ will let imaginations run wild, when a variety of larger-than-life flowers and plants come alive and turn the city green.
The First Sharjah Child and Youth Carnival will culminate with a spectacular firework extravaganza; the perfect end to a day-long celebration to pay tribute to the city’s exceptional efforts towards children and youth.
The Sharjah Baby Friendly Office has announced that all government organisations interested in participating, can contact the office on 06-5195457.
