of sheesh tawouk, chicken
grills, and meat.
Thinking we couldn’t eat
another mouthful, the Um
Ali quickly put us back
into eating mode. Other
treats included mini carrot
cake bites, chocolate
cake, brownies, baklava,
pastries, fresh fruit and
the master showpiece, a
unique twist on kunafe
which was served in a
vermicelli custard shell
topped with Ashta cheese
and fresh berries which
went perfectly with the
Turkish coffee.

Ajman Palace Hotel;
Friday Brunch at The
Bistro Encore
Tucked away in one of the
newest hotels on the Ajman
Corniche, the Bistro Encore
serves up international cuisine
in a relaxed ambiance with the
option to sit indoors or on the
terrace, overlooking the pool.
This brunch had a separate
breakfast section complete
with cereals, fresh fruit, breads,
pancakes, and eggs. For lunch,
there was a large sushi station
with a variety of different kinds
of sushi and a meat carving
live station for the die-hard
carnivores out there. At the pasta
station, we had made-to-order
Fettuccine Alfredo made exactly
how we liked it. The salad station
offered a large array of salads
and accompaniments to create
your own masterpiece; from
traditional Caesars salad to
seafood salad.
The mixed grill was spot on
with tender and juicy kebobs,
and sheesh tawook. Last, but
not least, the dessert bar was
ample with pastries, cakes,
puddings, and my absolute
favorite; the Um Ali which was
perfectly baked on the outside
and deliciously creamy on the
inside.

Movenpick Ibn Battuta
Mistral Restaurant
This was a Friday brunch with a
twist; it was in the evening and
is entitled “Friday Night Roast”
complete with live music and an
enormous selection of different
kinds of carvings and roasts,
alongside sushi and lots of fresh
seafood. The seafood was served
in two ways, one was already
cooked and the other one was
raw whereby you handpicked
your selections of fish, lobster,
and squid and it is freshly
cooked and presented with
an array of accompaniments
including glazed carrots, corn
on the cob, and roasted potato
wedges. The carving station
included roasted chicken, duck,
beef, and lamb, accompanied
by several kinds of sauces and
gravies. Kids were not forgotten
with a unique “Camel Club”
where kids could enjoy games
and coloring. Other mains were
British themed and included
Shepherd’s Pie, Cauliflower Au
Grain, and even crispy battered
fish and chips with tartar sauce.
The dessert section offered
assorted fresh scoop Movenpick
ice creams, blueberry crumble,
made-to-order waffles with
chocolate sauce, sticky date
pudding, and my all-time
favorite--salted caramel custard
pie.
