Health Magazine and the Department of Economic Development (DED) on October 26, 2016,
organized a workshop to outline the dynamics of the application procedure for the Annual
Health Awards 2017. The two sides brought together the participating professionals to explain
key principles for application and evaluation of the awards. The workshop provided a holistic
strategy for application submission on: social responsibility, innovation and ideas, customer
experience, inspirational leadership, robust processes, infrastructure and partner development.
Popular Pakistani model turned TV actor Ahsan Khan visited Thumbay Medical & Dental
Specialty Centre – Sharjah on Saturday evening,September 24, 2016 to celebrate the Clinic’s fifth
anniversary .The actor, who has garnered much appreciation and fan-base across both India and
Pakistan with hit Pakistani dramas, was flocked by hundreds of patients and visitors as he toured

to participate in the first anniversary celebrations of the clinic. The actor toured the modern
facilities at the clinic and met and greeted the patients and visitors. The celebrity visitor was

The Hospitality Division of Thumbay Group opened a new outlet of their multi-cuisine ‘The
Terrace Restaurant’ in Fujairah, on October 10, 2016. The outlet was inaugurated by Chief Guest
H.E. Suhail Al Qadi, Director Red Crescent, Fujairah. With a spacious seating capacity of 50
and set in a contemporary and delightful ambience of soft colors, The Terrace, in addition to
catering signature multi-cuisines, specializes in serving a sumptuous range of Indian and Arabic
delicacies.
A delegation from the Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Foundation visited the Gulf Medical University
(GMU) campus in Ajman. The delegation toured the university’s facilities and attended a talk by
Dr. Salwa Abdelzaher Mabrouk Ibrahim, Deputy Medical Director, Consultant and Professor of
Thumbay Hospital – Dubai. They also toured the Body & Soul Health Club on the campus.
Mohammed Azharuddin, the legendary cricketer and former captain of the Indian cricket team,
inaugurated the ‘Body & Soul Cricket Academy’at the Club in Al Jurf, Ajman on October 15, 2016.
The academy offers training programs in a combination of 3 aspects of cricket: batting, bowling,
and fielding with certified coaches. With natural grass and cricket nets, the facility offers the best
cricket training conditions in the emirate. The academy will soon add a transport facility to make
it convenient for the parents to send their kids.
Thumbay Pharmacy, the retail pharmacy chain run by the Thumbay Group, opened a new outlet
at Kenz Hypermarket, Ajman on August 17, 2016. The outlet was inaugurated by Mr. Thumbay
Moideen - Founder President of Thumbay Group, in the presence of Mr. Akbar Moideen Thumbay
– Vice President of the Healthcare Division of Thumbay Group and other members of the
administrative team of the Thumbay Group.
Thumbay Medical Tourism (TMT) – the award-winning medical tourism initiative of the Thumbay
Group – celebratedWorld Tourism Day on September 27, 2016 by welcoming its 6,000th Medical
Tourist at Thumbay Hospital, Ajman. Concurrently, TMT also hosted celebrations at Sharjah
International Airport. The TMT kiosk at the airport welcomed numerous passengers from
various countries, providing over one thousand complimentary gift packs which included free
consultation passes at Thumbay Hospitals, information packs, and other goodies.
