

GMU celebrated its Global Day at its campus in Ajman, the
event was inaugurated by Prof. Gita Ashok Raj, Provost GMU in
the presence of various deans, students of GMU.
As part of the CSR activity, GMC Hospital Ajman observed Earth
Hour in its administrative wing. Mr. Akbar Moideen Thumbay
Director Healthcare Thumbay Group participated in the event
by joining a number of employees gathered at the hospital’s
administrative building area to join millions of people around
the globe in turning-off non-essential lights. Once the lights
were switched-off, participants switched on hundreds of LED
tea light candles to show their support for the environment.
The Thumbay Annual Healthy Baby Contest & Exhibition 2015 was held in February 2015 at Thumbay Hospital in Dubai. It was an event focusing on effective parenting. The event had
various exhibitors showcasing their products to the 4000+ participants in addition to stage shows, parade and game zones for children. The show chose various winners across multiple
categories according to the physical and mental growth, complete immunization, and general appearance of the child and parent’s knowledge about childcare, which was one of the
biggest attractions among the participants.
GMU’s College of Pharmacy in association with Health Communications Division
hosted 6th Annual Pharmacy Conference on Respiratory Disorders at its campus.
The event was attended by numerous health professionals in addition to aca-
demic faculty and students.
Prof. Dr Tatiana Ille, represented Gulf Medical University at the Inaugural Asian
Conference on Education & International Development 2015 held in Osaka,
Japan. She presented a poster on Medical Education As Global Process- Experi-
ence and Challenges. The event was attended by over 350 participants from over
30 countries.
GMU celebrated its Global Day at its campus in Ajman, which was attended by over 2500
students, their parents and friends apart from the faculty and staff of GMU and GMC Hospitals.
Over 19 country pavilions were set-up displaying their national heritage and all the visitors were
treated for mouthwatering food from different countries. Students from 72 countries who study
at the university were in their ethnic best, be it in their colorful national dresses or as a repository
of talent, which was exhibited both in the exhibition arena as well as on the stage.
Over 2100 students from 26 universities and colleges from all over UAE participated in the 14th
GMU Annual Sports Festival 2015. The weeklong festival was keenly competed by the students
vying for the top spots in Cricket, Football, Basketball, Badminton Volleyball, Table Tennis, Tennis,
Throw ball, Squash and Swimming tournaments.
