8 Ideal Natural Solutions for Athlete’s Foot

Here is a list of 10 natural solutions for Athletes foot, a contagious fungal foot infection. The condition usually affects the inner digital toe spaces which are often warm and damp. So, what are the symptoms of this condition?
The symptoms are quite similar to those of either dermatitis or bad eczema. They can be hard to differentiate, but the common ones to Athlete’s foot include: Scaly thick red cracking foot skin, blisters, itchy skin, skin whitening, and/or a burning sensation.
If you already have Athlete’s foot, you need to consider the following natural solutions for athlete’s foot:
1) Using crushed garlic
Garlic contains Allicin which inhibits the growth of fungus which cause Athlete’s foot. Garlic also has antibacterial properties that can aid in the same function.
Procedure:
- Peel 3 to 4 garlic cloves, crush the pods and apply these between your toes.
- Wear clean socks and after 3 to 4 hours remove the socks and the garlic.
- Repeat this remedy daily until the fungal infection is cured.
You can alternatively eat garlic in foods or take supplements that contain garlic. This however, might take longer than in the first case.
2) Using apple cider vinegar
This is quite an inexpensive, simple and effective way of curing Athlete’s foot. To make it more effective, you can use the vinegar together with Himalayan Crystal salt.
Procedure:
- Pour some warm water into a foot bucket and in this, dilute 2 to 3 tablespoons of the vinegar.
- Add 2 tablespoons of the salt in the resulting solution.
- Immerse the infected foot and after 20 to 25 minutes, remove your legs and use a clean towel to pat them dry. You can also soak a piece of cloth in the solution and use it to wipe the insides of sandals and shoes. This will kill the fungi present in the sandals and shoes.
3) Applying coconut oil
Extra virgin coconut oil has antifungal properties therefore it can be used to kill the fungi which cause Athlete’s foot.
Procedure:
- Apply the coconut oil on the infected foot and leave it on for 30 minutes.
- Wash off the excess oil using lukewarm water.
- Repeat this twice a day
4) Applying raw honey
Raw honey contains propolis, also known as bee glue, which is a powerful antioxidant with remarkable healing properties. These make it ideal for curing Athlete’s foot among others.
Procedure:
- Before sleeping, apply raw honey on the affected areas of the foot
- Wear a clean pair of socks
- In the morning, remove the excess honey using lukewarm water
