Taste Test: Lunch at The Noodle House

Authentically Southeast Asian food served up in a family friendly ambiance; The Noodle House is a huge hit with families especially, who were waiting in droves to be seated. It offers an expansive menu with huge portions and is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some yummy food.
With ample seating, the kitchen here was in the middle of the venue, separated by a large glass wall where we could see occasional bursts of flames as the chef stir-fried the food. Our meal began with some refreshing mocktails; a Strawberry and Basil lemonade, the Lemon Cooler, and the Eastern Promise, all the loaded with freshness.
With an order pad in front of us, it was easy to see the dishes and tick them off as we liked. We were given ample suggestions by Maynard, the helpful assistant manager who suggested items from their exclusive “Dim Sum” offer which was valid at that time. From this, we had Crispy Prawn Bags, Sweet Potato Net Rolls, Fried Shrimp Balls, Vegetable Spring Rolls, Purple Sticky Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf, as well as a mouthwatering array of yummy steamed dumplings (The Siew Main) with hot chili bean sauce.
From their signature menu offerings, the Wasabi Shrimp was my favorite; a fully flavorful shrimp juxtaposed between creamy and crispy, spicy and mild. The Singapore Noodles–rice vermicelli noodles with chicken and prawns were a nice, lighter dish while the Singaporean Curry Laksa is a meal in and of itself–with Laksa noodles, chicken, prawns, tofu, fish balls, and coconut curry soup. Another favorite of mine was the Indonesian Nasi Goreng–packed with crispy chicken slices, garnished with prawn crackers and garnished with a fried egg. Also, the Char Siu Baby Back Beef Ribs hit all the right notes as these were super tender and flavorful, slow cooked with stick char siu sauce and served with firewalker rice.
The duck dishes here are also outstanding–the Kung Pao Duck Noodles were rice stick noodles with roasted duck, cashews, capsicum, and Kung Pao sauce. The Singaporean Roast Duck–crispy skinned duck in Hoisin sauce served with pancakes, leeks, and sliced cucumber—was a medley of crunchy and sweet that we rolled up and ate to relish all of the flavors at once.
Desserts here are also Eastern inspired and we sampled the Yuzu and Peanut cake, served with Yuzu ice-cream, also the Matcha ice cream and a shared slice of Mango Passion Cheesecake.
The Verdict: The Noodle House is a chain of restaurants that not only serves delicious and authentic Eastern food in mega sized portions, but has the most attentive and outstanding service I have seen of any chain eatery.
