3 Health Screenings All Men Need to Be Aware Of…

Preventive health screenings give a snapshot of a man’s health status and enable him to further manage health and lifestyle problems before they become serious. The following are important heart-healthy tests men can do to boost their future wellbeing.

Homocysteine: This is an amino acid found in the blood of the human body. According to many research studies, high levels of homocysteine can trigger damage to the arteries and cause problems with blood clotting.

C-reactive protein: This test checks the body’s inflammatory response and plays a key role in blood clotting formation and atherosclerosis.

Lipid Profile:  The lipid profile is a group of tests that are usually tested together to ascertain the risk of coronary heart disease. These have been shown to be good indicators of whether a person is likely to have a heart attack or stroke due to blockage of blood vessels or atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries.) The lipid profile most often includes total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) the good cholesterol, and triglycerides.
