Fix These Common Ramadan Blunders

Lots of are guilty of at least one of the blunders listed below that are made inadvertently during Ramadan. Instead, work on correcting these and aim to have a spiritually enlightened Ramadan.

Over-Sleeping

Some people manage to switch timings to accommodate the day of fasting and switch off the fast by sleeping. Sleeping away the hours of fasting means we are missing out on a huge aspect of the mindfulness of Ramadan.

Fasting Means More than Not Eating

Ramadan is a time for internal change and behavior modification. This means not just abstinence from food and drink during daylight hours, but also mending our lies, cheating, backbiting, and other negative habits we may have and work on changing these for a more positive lifestyle.

Work on Your Behavior

From over-eating to smoking, Ramadan is an ideal time to list take stock of your negative qualities and try to change these. Note these down in a journal and work towards slowly making a change in a more positive direction to make a permanent change in your habits.

Not Eating Suhoor

Lots of us can’t deal with eating so early in the morning or just don’t want to wake up and eat at all. Yet, Suhoor is a key practice and authentic representation of the spirit of Ramadan.
