Market 24 is what I would call one of Dubai’s best-kept secrets. From the outside, it looks like a café, but once you enter, it’s actually a cozy bistro set up for a relaxed meal.

With upbeat music playing in the background and a long counter displaying the different kinds of sushi on offer, our server explained that the menu was a juxtaposition of the best of mostly Asian cuisine with a bit of Italian and Indian. There were signature Thai, Malaysian, Italian, Japanese and even Korean dishes here. Head chef Ivan Vidal explained that every dish here is authentic without any fusion as each regional cuisine has its own specialty chef. So when you order Korean, you get just that and the same concept applies to their entire menu actually.

Our starters included the spicy tuna sushi and their signature spider roll sushi. The spider sushi was made from soft shell crab which our server explained was harvested only in a few countries and was crisp coated with tempura. Both were very fresh and loaded with flavors and perhaps the most delicious sushi we had eaten in ages. We also shared a chunky avocado salad which was a fresh accompaniment to our starters. Also, Malaysian chicken skewers–juicy morsels of chicken with a bowl of sticky rice, pickled vegetables, and peanut satay sauce went well together.

In our mains, we had a spicy chicken tikka pizza and also a delicious Nasi Goreng, served with chicken, shrimp crackers, and topped with an egg. Also, another must-try is the Thai Green chicken curry– a creamy concoction of chicken, chili, cilantro, and coconut that lent a medley of flavors.

Our eagerly awaited foray into Korean food was with ‘So Kalbi’, a spicy, super garlicky beef barbeque dish with mushrooms, onions, and toasted sesame seeds. The meat was succulent and the entire dish was rich in flavors.

All desserts here are made on the premises and there is a wide variety of cakes and tarts to choose from. We chose cheesecake, red velvet cake, and carrot cake slices for sharing. While all were decadent and rich, I was blown away by the cheesecake which was perfect in texture, flavor, and presentation.

The Verdict: Market 24 is one of those unique eateries that offer a menu with stellar dishes. Every single dish we tried was next-level delicious and loaded with authentic flavors. This is a must-visit place for families to enjoy amazing food in a chilled out environment with super friendly staff.
