The Start
Shiyi: “My key reason for embarking upon this art exhibition was triggered when I was researching topics for my IB personal project and found out from UN Girls Education Initiative that there are 30 million girls out of school. It was then I decided to take action to help!”

Inspiration
Shiyi: “I was inspired by the story of Malala Yousafzai who almost died in defending her right to education and said, ‘All I want is education and I am afraid of no one.’  Also, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak is an inspiration to us all and she said, ‘We believe strongly that the empowerment of women is important to the future of our country.’

Female Empowerment through Education
Shiyi: “The UN Girls Education Initiative found out that there are 30 million girls out of school, but that even basic education brings tremendous benefits to girls throughout their lives and therefore, to society as a whole.”

In the Pipeline
Shiyi: “I am interested in events for social causes and looking forward to planning my next Community and Service initiative!”
