Don’t Go Crazy Trying to Get in Shape for the Summer Holidays

If you’re heading off somewhere hot and sunny over the summer break, then there’s a chance you might feel a degree of pressure to look a certain way. Therefore, if you are looking to shape up, the number one piece of advice you could be given is don’t panic. No one could realistically expect you to go from someone juggling their day-to-day responsibilities to super model overnight, but if you are dedicated to making changes then exercise and diet are your two best friends.

Routine
Whichever fitness program you might opt for is less important than sticking to it consistently. Working out at least twice a week is needed for the best results, so whether you’re tired or if the weather’s not the best, you’ve got to drag yourself out of your comfort zone and get to work. Exercising with a friend or as part of a larger group is an option that many find useful, to keep you going on those days when it just seems all too much.

Healthy Alternatives
What is more of an individual challenge though is what you eat and dieting makes up a key element of how you look. It’s not just a question of cutting out foods high in sugar and fats, as those are still needed for your body to properly function, what matters is not overdoing on these foods and replacing them with healthier alternatives. For instance, while red meat is well known for their  level of protein, they often are high in fat and the way they are prepared also isn’t often ideal for anyone looking to count calories.

Therefore, it pays to experiment with healthy foods you might not look at otherwise, as they open up so many more culinary options for your enjoyment. Experimentation is the name of the game, to find what works best for you and at your own pace.
