Eat Like a Pilot

Due to the nature of their profession, pilots have to be physically strong, fit, and mentally alert. They are frequent flyers and adjust themselves according to the weather and the lifestyles of various countries. To remain in excellent shape they have to take good care of their health and it becomes next to impossible to have food of their choice when they are staying in different countries. The following are some ideal foods especially for pilots to maintain optimal wellbeing.

1) Follow a good balanced diet which suits your body.

2) Don’t include oily foods, but rather, stick to roast or barbequed foods.

3) Instead of using sugar, use organic honey, raw sugar, or fresh fruits as a sweetening agent in desserts.

4.) Make fresh fruit shakes/ smoothies or juice which provide ample nutrition, but avoid using protein powder. Take advice from your doctor or nutritionist if you wish to use them.

5) Include the following in your diet: vegetables and legumes, fruits, cereals, lean meat, fish, eggs, nuts, tofu, milk, Greek yogurt, and cheese.

6) Replace butter with olive oil, which is a healthy food ingredient in cooking.

7) Avoid junk food and instead go for homemade foods including sandwiches prepared from whole wheat flour/multigrain bread stuffed with salad and sliced roasted chicken.

8) Coffee plays a vital role in the life of pilot as it helps them to stay alert and active while flying. But too much consumption of coffee might not be good for health; also aim to include green tea, herbal tea, and light milk tea.
