For the Love of Food

A completely unique concept, INKED is a creative platform for like-minded, discerning foodies. Kenza Jarjour, Co-Founder of INKED explains the creative process behind the concept which only exists in Dubai.

The Idea
“What inspired us to start INKED was the idea of developing a creative space with other likeminded individuals. Our medium is food because that is our passion, but it is the invention of ideas and experiences that is at the absolute root of what we do at INKED.”

The Concept
“The idea behind our pop-up Tête-à-Tête was that each guest was be seated with a stranger for the first course, on opposite sides of a mirror that was be placed in the center of each table. During the remainder of the dinner, each guest was requested to rotate from table to table, in intervals. We’ve received a lot of great feedback. Most people really enjoyed Tête-à-Tête since it’s something that has never been done before.”

INKED

Selfie Fixation
“We’d been thinking a lot about how we as a society have become so fixated on ourselves as evidenced by the infamous ‘selfie’. And we thought, ‘what better way to confront this self-obsession than by having our guests literally look at themselves for an entire meal.”

Gastronomic Memory
“The way we create experiences that leaves a mark or a memory starts from the moment you enter, until the moment you leave. It’s not just about the food, the service, or the design of the restaurant. It’s about being immersed into a theme/concept/experience. As the concept changes, the space, menu, music, service sequence, plating, and décor will change as well. We create the setting, but we let the people make their own scenario.”

Recent Pop-Up
“One of our pop-ups, which will always be near to our hearts, is when we brought out the ladies behind Tawlet Souk Al Tayeb, a quintessential staple in the Beirut food scene. It was such a pleasure to share our passion for traditional Lebanese food and our culture with our guests at INKED.”

Future Plans
“We’re actually really looking forward to our next Pop-up, which will take place during art week and which will be inspired by a cookbook that was written and illustrated by Salvador Dali.”
