The French Do It Best….The French Versailles Brunch at Brasserie Quartier

The Brasserie Quartier’s French Versailles Friday Brunch at St. Regis Dubai is magnificently indulgent and beautifully French, both in the food and the ambiance. Set in an expansive space with live entertainment, this brunch redefines French cooking.

There are lavish self-serve buffet sections—salads, cheeses, breads, and canapés, and also unique live-cooking stations while mains are pre-ordered from the menu.

foie-gras_previewThere was a live-cooking foie gras section, one of my favorite dishes, where I enjoyed mine seared with fruit chutney and crispy toast.

beef-tartare_previewThere was another station for steak tartare and tuna tartare, one of France’s signature dishes.

roast-chicken_previewAnother large section had French roast chicken served with Dauphne potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and glazed green beans and carrots. The chicken was really moist, seasoned throughout, and went very well with the muted flavors of the potatoes.

beef-carving_previewThe beef carving section had tender cuts of roast beef, with a huge assortment of gravies and chutneys. There was a massive seafood live-cooking station where I had jumbo prawns, grilled very subtly to retain the flavors and taste.

Then there was a pasta station where I sampled beef Bolognese penne pasta, smothered in a garlicky sauce that was out of this world. There was also a large canapés area with delicious veggie sliders and savory pastries.

cheeses_previewDuring this time, there was a steady presentation of freshly baked assorted breads and croissants: zaatar, chocolate, and cheese– which were warm and flaky and were an indulgent treat. A country onion loaf with olive oil and cheese was presented to the table and was so delicious; it was hard to stop nibbling on it.

From the mains, we selected ravioli with wild mushrooms and truffle foam which added earthiness to this otherwise light dish. We also the fresh sea bream which was cooked to perfection and tasted light, fresh, and healthy.

desserts-2_previewThe meal didn’t end just yet as here, desserts on display are breathtaking, and especially for someone who enjoys high-quality desserts. There was every kind of pastry available,  Nutella cupcakes, and freshly baked croissants. But my favorites were the bubbly warm sticky date pudding which I had with a dollop of vanilla ice cream.

desserts-3_previewThe donuts were baked fresh, making them melt-in-your-mouth, and the cheesecake, which was loaded with a strong cheesy goodness, was dense and flavorful. Other goodies included ice cream, homemade chocolates, assorted cakes, and French macaroons in every possible flavor.

The Verdict: The French Versailles Brunch redefines the concept of Friday brunch in Dubai. Leave your diet at home and come for the food, ambiance, and the superb live entertainment.  This is a must-try Friday brunch experience!
