Get Out of Your Comfort Zone Today

Julie Miles Lewis, Founder and Owner of Mountain High, creates unique opportunities for women to explore the world, challenge themselves in the great outdoors, connect with new cultures and make a difference in the process…she reveals how we can step out of our comfort zone today.

Mountain High
“After climbing my first mountain at the age of 40, I came up with the idea to start Mountain High in 2003. Over the last 14 years we have run 58 expeditions to more than 20 countries to include the Arctic and Antarctica. Having published my first book last year ‘Moving Mountains’ I am now speaking and teaching in schools, universities, and corporate organizations to share the lessons learnt through my travels and the various training courses I have completed– Zen, Stress Management, NLP, and Resilience.”

The Motivation
“I felt there was a need to create opportunities for women and men to experience life away from the city, to learn new skills, discover their innate strengths, and have fun in the process. Having been employed for many years, it took courage to leave the security of a full time job and start my own business. I choose to continually challenge myself to do new things as part of my personal growth. The more experiences you have the more you can share with others. I am a great believer in leading by example – to walk and breathe my talk.”

Transformational Benefits
“Spending time being active in nature has so many great health benefits. It boosts the immune system, gives us the opportunity to learn new things, meet new people, make new friends and often allows us to be more present and switch off from the stress of life in the city. Travelling and diverse experiences give us a new perspective on life; strengthen our resilience and get those happy hormones flowing.”

Other Ways to Step Out of Your Comfort Zone
Jules explains that we can make every day an adventure without leaving the country and climbing a mountain. Here are a few tips:

  • Learn a new language or skill
  • Try something new off the menu
  • Take a different way to work
  • Go on a walking mystery tour in your own country and find new  places to hang out
  • If you’ve always worn black, buy some bright colors
  • Ask lots of questions!
  • Make new friends – if you are an introvert get social.
  • Go dancing, read different books
  • Write down a list of all the people, places and activities that bring you joy and make sure you do something off the list every day.
