Dubai has a wealth of high-end, fine dining restaurants trending all over social media. But there are few eateries that can boast a timeline dating back to the time when Dubai was still young.

As we all know, “old is gold” and with that in mind, the following are a few of the hidden gems in Dubai that have been consistently been serving up delicious food for decades.

A small seafood shack along Jumeirah road, Bu Qtair serves up fresh delicious hammour and spicy prawns, depending on the catch of the day with curry sauce and a strict ‘no reservations’ policy. No one in town serves fresh seafood the way they do. The best time to visit this place is early in the evening as after 8 pm, you will probably have to stand in a long line to enjoy their delicious seafood.

Farisian Cafeteria
One of the oldest gems situated in the very busy Meena Bazar area in Bur Dubai, this cafeteria serves up the best Persian falafels, for only Dhs 2.5 per sandwich. Quite different to other falafels, Persian falafel has a distinctly unique flavor. Also, check out the tiny veggie samosas here which amongst the best in town.

Special Ostadi restaurant
Nearly a decade old, this Iranian restaurant showcases some of the best kebabs in town. Their amazing chicken kebabs with Iranian roti and raita are a must-try here.

Al Labeeb Grocery
A small grocery located in Jumeirah, this is a true testament of a hidden gem and a place where you can get the crispy Emirati crepe known as “Regaag” served with Kraft cheese, eggs, Oman chips and a dollop of chili sauce.
