A Hip Vibe and Mediterranean Food at Siddharta Lounge

Tucked away in the beautiful Grosvenor House hotel in the Dubai Marina is the newly renovated Siddharta Lounge, which merges delicious Mediterranean food with an oh-so stunning view of the Dubai Marina.

As it was raining when we visited, the outdoor deck and poolside seating areas were closed, so we sat indoors. The place was already buzzing with people and music and our friendly server, Sumesh, knew the menu inside and out. Our starters were a mix of cold and warm nibbles and included Burrata salad, a freshly baked Italian bread basket selection with Spanish arbequina olives and Sicilian sundried tomatoes, and a spicy crab and green papaya salad drizzled with a pineapple dressing, topped with roasted peanuts. These went well with our mocktails—the signature ‘Shinto’; a divine blend of peach and strawberry juices, topped with cinnamon and a cute adornment of popcorn, and ‘Followed the Mule’, a blend of ginger ale, agave, lemon, and apple juice.

Next was a two-tiered sushi platter that included their signature crunchy shrimp volcano, salmon Nigiri, strips of Wagyu beef, and crab with papaya sushi. My favorite was the crunchy shrimp volcano, which was crispy and flavorful. Our mains included Crispy Chili chicken with steamed rice, which was mildly spicy and included sautéed bell peppers and onions, the Tiger prawns atop a bed of saffron rice and served with a lemony herb sauce. And a rustic dish of spinach and ricotta ravioli in tomato sauce, garnished with fresh basil. Each dish had its own set of flavors and textures and all were fresh, cooked well, and presented beautifully.

To top off this delicious meal was some of Siddharta Lounge’s signature desserts–the Pain Perdu was freshly baked and sprinkled with cinnamon, served with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. The medley of hot and cold merged to create a blissfully comforting dessert. Next, we indulged in a chocolate fondant filled with a lusciously warm decadent filling that spilled out as we spooned into it. It was served with blood oranges and mandarin ice-cream to mellow down the bitterness of the dark chocolate.

Verdict: With excellent service, Siddharta Lounge is THE venue to enjoy a leisurely meal. The relaxed, but very hip vibe coupled with delicious food is sure to impress even the most discerning foodies out there.
