Is Your Mind-Set Hindering Your Productivity?

We all have certain thoughts that can put a damper on our productivity and overall attitude in the day. Here are some potentially negative perceptions that can be replaced with more positive thoughts for increased productivity and an overall more optimistic outlook.

I have too much on my to do list
Change this: Be realistic with your to-do list. Stop cramming hundreds of things on one list and expect to get these done. Instead, categorize priorities that require urgent attention and work on these. The rest can be scheduled according to urgency.

Worrying too much
Change this: Let’s face it, not everything is under our control. If you cannot control a situation, instead of wasting time and energy worrying about it, leave it alone for some time. You might find this will free your mind which enables clarity for enhanced productivity.

My workload is unmanageable
Change this: Instead of looking at everything pending that you need to finish, compartmentalize each item in separate, smaller rooms in your mind. By doing this, you break down tasks and it will automatically be easier to tackle these than one herculean one.

Always stressed out and anxious
Change this: This is not only toxic for our health, but at the end of it, will make you feel terrible if you constantly feel stressed out and tense. Learn to read your body’s cues when you feel overwhelmed and have a few outlets to relax and de-stress; be it reading a few chapters of a favorite book, praying, or taking a power nap.

Everything has to be perfect
Change this: Once you let go of this notion, you will find yourself accepting that you are human and not everything always goes the way you want it. Always strive for excellence, but learn to accept yourself, flaws and all, to enable a positive and optimistic outlook on everything.
