Juggling to Stay Healthy

These days, more women are juggling between their personal and professional lives, leaving very little time to focus on their health and wellness. The rat race between the office and home also leaves them with little energy to focus on fitness. To help, Sunny Shaper, Personal Care Expert at QNET shares his tips to help women boost their wellness quotient.

Healthy food does not have to burn a hole in your pocket. The key is to keep a balance; Shaper suggests the following:

  • Drink plenty of fluids, especially water and fresh fruit juices, throughout the day to help flush out toxins and keep you hydrated on the go.
  • Eat three/five portions of fruits and vegetables daily. Fruits and vegetables are the easiest to cook and shop, and are not costly.
  • If you can learn to cook two or three basic healthy meals, along with a healthy breakfast option, on a regular basis, you can absolutely dominate healthy living on a cheap budget.

Finding Balance
According to Shaper, when work gets hectic, we tend to compromise on our meals and prefer grabbing a sandwich or whatever is available in the canteen/café. Here are tips to stay healthy when you don’t have time:

  • Take some time, one day every week, to sit down and make a shopping list. Keeping a list and sticking to it saves time, money, and unhealthy food from “landing” in your shopping cart.
  • Even if you don’t have time to prepare your meals in advance, you can still go healthy. Replace unhealthy food with packets of nuts or frozen berries that are easily available on the go.

Get Your Sleep

It goes without saying that it’s hard to get work done when you can barely keep your eyes open, reminds Shaper. “A good night’s sleep cannot only affect your work performance, but also your health,” he tells. “Researchers and studies say that we need an average of eight hours sleep per night, and while it is sometimes not achievable because of work deadlines and overtime, we still have to make sure we get enough sleep to stay healthy.” Organizations need to promote the importance of a good night’s sleep to ensure top class performance from their employees.
