How Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Can Make You Look Years Younger

Skin stimulation is a huge trend in modern aesthetic medicine nowadays. One way to do this is using platelet rich plasma (PRP) to stimulate fresh cells. Read on to learn more about PRP.

What is PRP?

PRP is a natural product created from your own body. Platelets are the cells in the blood that help tissue to heal and grow new cells as they contain a huge amount of growth factors. The PRP, injected into specific areas of the skin and hair, act as a matrix that promotes your own collagen to grow, regenerates tissue, and thus acts as to naturally smooth and tighten the skin.

Organic in Nature
PRP is gaining in popularity because of its organic nature and because it works, as platelets is an excellent source of growth factors. The plasma taken from the patient’s own blood instead of chemicals injected into the body. The possibility of side effects is practically non-existent because the body is unlikely to reject its own blood. It can even be directly injected into the skin or hair.

What to Expect
A small amount of blood will be drawn. While the PRP is being prepared, your skin will be cleansed and prepared for the treatment. The injections take a few moments, and are only mildly uncomfortable. The procedure is quick (15 minutes total), relatively painless, and requires no post procedure care or time off from daily events. Mild swelling, redness, or bruising fades within 1 to 3 days.

Results
The goal of PRP skin rejuvenation therapy is to improve skin tone and texture, tighten skin, soften lines and pores, and it also stimulates hair growth. Results begin to show 3 to 4 weeks after the treatment session and continue to improve with time. Three treatment sessions are generally recommended, spaced 1 to 2 months apart, to achieve the best outcome.
