Recharge at Alma Retreat

By the end of the working week, most of us are exhausted and drained. To help reboot and recharge, take a self-empowering trip to The Alma Retreat – Bedouin Oasis in Ras Al Khaimah to get back to nature and unwind. Sarah Arnold, Managing Director of Alma Retreats explains…

The Retreat

“This is a weekend getaway for all those that need to leave the fast paced city life for awhile to re-energize and recharge their batteries. It includes a comprehensive program with daily yoga, meditation, HIT, and an outdoor gym as well as art workshops which will inspire new possibilities and help motivate healthy lifestyle changes. The entire program is designed to de-stress over a weekend and the team is available to keep coaching and supporting back at home to make it a real transformation program.”

Taking Time Out

“We tend to run on autopilot and play multiple roles: the mother or father, sister or brother, manager or husband or wife– just to name a view. All of these roles require us to function in a certain way and often we forget what it is that is really important to us – outside our obligations – what it is that truly makes us happy. Often we see people that supposedly have everything, but still get depressed – why? Maybe because they never found their true life’s purpose. Taking time out as an individual is important to reconnect with oneself, to ground yourself, and re-calibrate your course based on what you are striving for.”

“Retreats are held every weekend. Activities include:  guided meditations, yoga, art, inspirational group discussions, nature walks, trekking, outdoor sleeping, various exercise classes, personal training, coaching, and organic meals. I recommend this retreat be undertaken at least twice a year – ideally once every quarter.”

Tips for Making Time for Ourselves

  • Get up 30 minutes earlier every day and take a short walk to reflect and feel gratitude.
  • Think about the hobbies and activities that really bring joy to you and book at least 1 hour per week to do them as your “me-time”.
  • Plan ahead: book a weekend away and inform your family and friends in advance.
  • Agree with your partner/friends/family on certain times/days that are just for you to do whatever you like and offer the same freedom and support in return.
  • Look at all the administrative/operational things you do and see if you can outsource some to a maid or personal assistant.
