Sabella’s Friday Brunch

Sabella’s Friday brunch is the summer version of the iconic Garden Brunch that Ajman Kempinski hosts during the cooler months. While Sabella’s is an organic Italian restaurant, to say this brunch is enormous would be an understatement and leaves nothing to the imagination.

IMG_7450This place was already buzzing when we arrived. There was live entertainment and the brunch is spread across three rooms. It includes a mix of live cooking stations—grills, Chinese, Indian, pasta, and desserts. There is also a vast salad section, breakfast area, and desserts.

kiddie-cornerThere is even a cute kids’ corner with a TV and play area.

saladsWe began with the salads which had the usual favorites, but my particular favorites were the tuna salad and vine leaves.

IMG_7414I moved on to the live-cooking grill station which offered seasoned/pre-marinated meats including beef steaks, lamb chops, fish, and skewers with chunks of chicken and lamb. We opted for grilled salmon and a chicken kebob skewer. With this section are accompaniments and a sides section with gravies like Béarnaise, Jus, Brown gravy and lots of fruit chutneys. There was also corn on the cob and mini baked potatoes.

IMG_7430 The live-cooking pasta station served up pasta just how you like it: I had tagliatelle with pink sauce topped with lots of seafood and cheese while the kids enjoyed penne pasta and cheese. It was comfort food that hit all the right notes.

IMG_7402 There is an entire breakfast section here also with baked beans, potatoes, sausages, fresh fruit, bread, and jams. My kids hit up the designated kids’ corner in the other room; it was amply stocked with everything kids love including custom-made mini sliders, hot dogs, mac and cheese, and even a popcorn machine.

IMG_7451 The same section has another side with Chinese live cooking; I had a delicious Ramen soup cooked up like I like with noodles first simmered in broth on the wok, with added chicken, spring onions, and carrots. Here a stir-fry option is also available.

IMG_7480But it doesn’t stop here; the Indian section had a spicy biryani and lots of curries while the other section had a Saj cooking area and also traditional Arabic fish served with rice.

mojito-cart In between, we sipped delicious lemon and mint mojitos that were created at our table in a little cart.

IMG_7516The expansive sweet treats area was spread across several stations and counters. I loved the live-cooking station making hot crepes: mine was filled with freshly cut strawberries and chocolate, topped with a dollop of vanilla ice cream.

dessert-pizzaThe dessert pizza was also a treat without being too sweet and loaded with fresh fruit topping.

IMG_4743Others we sampled were a variety of cakes—including one made like a burger– tarts, custards and one of my other favorites: the Nutella Ravioli.

The Verdict: Come very hungry and be ready to spend an entire afternoon feasting on delicious cuisine from all over the world under one roof. The live entertainment gives this a relaxed vibe and makes for a very enjoyable Friday afternoon.
