Tips To Avoid Sinking Into the Gastronomy Scene in Dubai

Walk down the street in Dubai and you will no doubt notice the wealth of restaurants, cafes, and coffee shops. To make things even harder you can pick up the phone and order almost anything you want. With this, coupled with the long working hours, you may just notice your body weight creeping up.

So how do you stay on track with your diet in Dubai?

Tip 1 – Keep Moving
The first thing you need to do is find time to exercise. You may think the gym is your best option, but not everybody likes going to the gym. Going to the gym if you don’t enjoy it isn’t sustainable in the long term. We advise choosing exercise you enjoy. Think swimming, tennis, yoga, and cycling. A one hour daily morning walk can burn between 300 to 600 calories every day. Now add that up over a week and you have used 2100 to 4200 calories more.

Tip 2 – Plan Ahead
Have a look at your schedule. Does it look like another busy week at work? Why not plan out and cook your meals on the weekend? Cook your chicken, beef, eggs, pasta, rice and vegetables in bulk at the weekend. This should stop you reaching from the phone and ordering from your favorite take-away.

But cooking isn’t for everyone. Have a look at menus from restaurants that you are likely to visit or order food from. Most of the time you can find something better. It doesn’t have to be the healthiest item on the menu. Sometimes it just has to be better.

You normally order a pizza = 2300 calories, try exchanging this for a burger and chips = 1350 calories. You just saved 950 calories.

Tip 3 – Hunger or Habit
Its 3 pm and you are going for your afternoon coffee that usually involves a chocolate muffin. Are you going because you are hungry? Or because it has become a habit?

Low blood sugar could be the cause because you haven’t eaten for a few hours. Make sure you consume enough protein throughout the day. This should help keep you feeling fuller for longer. Aim for 1 g to 2 g of protein per kg of you bodyweight per day.

Tip 4 – Surviving the weekend binge

The week has gone great and you have stayed on track with diet and exercise, but now it’s the weekend and the all too familiar feeling to indulge in your favorite food has returned. This is very common and very easy to consume over double your recommended daily calorie intake.

Why not try a morning fast?
Let’s say you miss breakfast and don’t have your first meal until 1pm. You have just saved yourself 400 to 600 calories you can use when you go out for dinner. A word of warning, make that first meal at 1pm as healthy as possible.
