Detoxing helps the body cleanse itself from toxins or free radicals that are byproducts of pollution, pesticides, and preservatives. But did you know there are certain foods that help with detox? Stephanie Nammar, Clinical Dietitian and Nutritionist at Dubai Herbal Treatment Centre highlights these.

  • Artichokes
    Artichokes help the liver function at its best and are also filled with fiber, protein, magnesium, folate, and potassium.
  • Asparagus
    This contains beneficial substances that fight cancer and help your heart stay healthy; and is a general anti-inflammatory food.
  • Avocados
    Because of its fiber and antioxidant count, this is a food that is making it onto more and more detox lists as they are heart healthy.
  • Beets
    Beets are high in fiber and antioxidants which makes them crucial in detox meals.
  • Broccoli
    Broccoli works with the enzymes in your liver to easily eliminate toxins.
  • Cabbage
    Cabbage helps your liver get rid of toxins and contains fibers that will help your digestive system work at its best.
  • Garlic
    Garlic boosts the immune system as well as helps the liver flush away toxins.
  • Ginger
    Often used in tea or other drinks, you can add ginger to most recipes. It is thought to help the liver function and has an anti-inflammatory effect.
