I tried Right Bite’s Ramadan Meal Package…Here’s how it went

With Ramadan here and the table usually overflowing with goodies that are sometimes not so good for us, luckily the team at Right Bite makes it easier with their tailor made home delivery Iftar and Suhour packages. It’s not only the perfect solution for time crunched individuals, but also the ones like me, who throw all caution to the wind when it comes to sensible eating after a long hard day of fasting. Here’s how it went…

Before you sign up for the program, a consultation is conducted to check your fitness, health concerns, BMI, weight and so on. Then online menu selections are sent for you to tick off according to your personal taste and preference with a large variety of cuisine from different parts of the world.

Day 1: Our chiller bag arrived very early in the morning, filled with various sized containers. It had a printed menu that detailed Suhour and Iftar on it. Today’s Suhour includes a low fat fruit yogurt, dates, and English breakfast with a baked omelet, mushrooms and tomatoes with a whole meal mini croissant. Iftar includes dates, low fat fruit yogurt, wild mushroom soup, a crispy fattoush salad with pomegranate dressing, and the main: a tender, breaded sesame chicken breast served with broccoli, cheese and atop herbed potato patties that was delicious and flavorful.  Also, every single dish was labelled with the exact amount of calories to help keep track.

Day 2: This bag was equally packed and Suhour includes low fat laban, a scrumptious fruit salad made of mango, kiwi, and strawberry, and a mixed fatayer platter. Iftar includes dried figs, low fat apricot yogurt, roasted tomato soup, Chinese cabbage salad, and a Cajun burger with avocado salad. Dessert is M’aamoul Bil Tamer. Here the roasted tomato soup contains 50 calories; the Cajun burger with avocado salsa contains 300 calories.

Day 3: Today’s Suhour includes a low-fat laban, freshly cut pineapple slices, and a delicious turkey, spinach, and cheese roll-ups. Iftar was as ample with dried apricots, low-fat yogurt, lentil soup and whole meal labneh Fatayer. The main, which is my favorite, is beef pot roast with sweet potatoes and green beans. As a dessert, I enjoyed two peanut butter cookies.

Day 4: Suhour is low fat yogurt and orange slices. A yummy treat is the sheesh tawook platter with hummus and mini spinach fatayer. Iftar includes the dates and yogurt in addition to a bowl of potato and lentil soup. The starters are mini spanokopitas while the main is another delicious Mexican meatballs with cheddar. Dessert is Arabic styled Maamaoul Bil Tamer that satisfied my sweet tooth in all the right ways.

CSR Initiative: A mini Aloe Vera plant arrived in a cute little vase as Right Bite, in partnership with the Dubai-based social enterprise Enable, is gifting each customer with a beautiful indoor plant arrangement made by Enable’s special talents.  These gifts will help boost Enable’s work as 85 percent of the revenue goes to the organization to help them create more job opportunities and directly benefit the special talents as 15 percent of the revenue will go back to them to further empower his/her ability.

Day 5: Low fat laban followed by an even more refreshing green fruit salad with grapes and kiwis is a refreshing treat for Suhour; followed by a tasty low fat labneh sandwich on zaatar ciabatta. Iftar started with dried apricots and low fat laban followed by chicken and butternut squash soup and a tangy Mexican style green beans salad. The main was my favorite: a Burghol bil Banaddoura with minced meat. My sweet treat was a rich chocolate brownie.

Day 6: My last day of reviewing Right Bite for Ramadan was here. For Suhour, I enjoyed cold low-fat laban, watermelon slices, and whole-wheat date and walnut loaf. I began my Iftar with dates and cold laban, next is broccoli soup with an accompanying fattoush salad. My main is a tender pan grilled chicken with potato wedges and green beans.

The Best Part: This is an excellent plan for anyone who wishes to maintain their healthy meal plan throughout Ramadan or wants to start eating healthy in Ramadan which is no easy feat. The best part is the food is portion controlled and we know exactly how many calories we are eating. Everything is tasty, fresh, healthy and pre-selected by myself so there are no surprises.
