Turn Back the Clock….With Makeup

Move over Botox; Dubai based make-up artist Nina Ubhi reveals her transformational ‘Facelift’ makeup technique to erase years off your face.

An extremely creative make-up artist, Nina came up with a bespoke technique that gives the illusion of a ‘facelift’ making you look younger and more ‘lifted’.

What do you need?

  • Creamy medium/full coverage concealer
  • Fluid foundation
  • Make-up sponge
  • Illuminating setting powder
  • Matte bronzer
  • Highlighter

Step 1 – Concealer

Apply this with a concealer brush on the entire undereye area, dragging it upwards towards the temples from the outer corner of the eyes.

Step 2 – Buff edges

With a fluff brush, buff the harsh edges, but don’t touch the under eye area – only the edges of concealer!

Step 3 – Foundation

Using a damp sponge, apply your foundation with a ‘firm bouncing’ action. Start by applying this over the undereye concealer and then taking it out towards the temples, then everywhere else on the face.

Step 4 – Powder

Now, using a medium fluff brush, press in the powder over the undereye area first then everywhere else on the face.

Step 5 – Bronzer

With an angled bronzer brush, apply the bronzer starting from the middle of the ear and finishing with lighter pressure half way towards the nostrils.

Step 6 – Highlighter

Using a medium stipple brush, apply a highlighter that has a fine sheen rather than sparkle. Apply it on the upper cheekbones starting from an inch below the outer corner of the eyes taking it towards the temple.

Facelift tip

Nina’s ‘facelift’ technique is achieved best when you apply your products in the right direction. The right products are important, but how you apply them can make or break this look.  Her advice: Always remember, upwards and outwards!

Top Tip

Always use the ‘buffing’ technique. This means pressing and bouncing the brush or sponge with quick movements rather than dragging.
